Full Moon and the Christ the Redeemer statue

A full moon is seen behind the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, early Wednesday July 4, 2012. (AP Photo/Felipe Dana)

After sending these photos to the wire, they went viral and I got a lot of emails and facebook messages asking whether this was a product of photoshop or if it was real….

It’s real… and I was not the first one and certainly won’t be the last to take this shot… there are (few) times a year where it’s possible..

here’s how I know :

Moonset in dark blue / the corcovado mountain is seen at left, and Botafogo beach at right.

Here is the raw sequence:

These were taken w/ a 5D MKII @800mm

    Love the Rio image.

Please can you give me a quote (£) for using the image on our website for 1 year.

Also, I would like to add a small element to it (a projected square on the statue of Christs heart?
We did this for a charity project we did for an identity for a campaign for road safety
(but we don’t have a good image of it… your image would be awesome!)
